Terms of Service

Last updated September 2026
The short version
This is Dave Iannone’s personal website. You are welcome to read it and use the free tools and the “Ask Dave” assistant. The writing, tools, and AI answers are general information to help you think, not professional advice, and are not guaranteed to be accurate. Use them at your own discretion, do not submit sensitive or confidential information, and please do not copy the content for commercial use without permission. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the site.

1. Agreement to these Terms

By accessing or using daveiannone.com (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the “Terms”) and by the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. If you use the Site on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. About this Site (personal capacity)

The Site is the personal website of Dave Iannone. Any opinions, writing, guides, tools, and assistant responses reflect Dave Iannone’s personal views. The Site is operated by Dave Iannone in his individual capacity. Although the Site may reference his professional roles, the Site is not operated by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or the responsibility of any company with which he is or has been associated, and nothing on the Site speaks for, binds, or creates any obligation of any such company. References to any company or product are for context only and are not an endorsement.

3. Not professional advice

The Site’s content, tools, and assistant are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute, and are not a substitute for, professional advice of any kind, including legal, financial, insurance, cybersecurity, emergency-management, medical, employment, or procurement advice, and no attorney-client, consultant-client, or other professional relationship is created by your use of the Site. Public-safety operations involve real risk to people and property; you are responsible for independently verifying anything before acting on it and for complying with the laws, regulations, standards, and policies that apply to your agency. Do not rely on the Site for any decision that could affect safety, compliance, or legal rights without consulting a qualified professional.

4. Interactive tools and the AI assistant

The Site offers free interactive tools and an AI assistant (“Ask Dave”) that generate content from the information you provide and from Dave Iannone’s published writing.

  • AI-generated, provided as-is. Tool outputs and assistant answers are produced in part by automated and AI systems. They may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect, and they will not fit every situation. They are a starting point for your own review and judgment, not a recommendation or a finished work product.
  • No reliance. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and deciding whether to use any output. Dave Iannone is not responsible for decisions you make based on it.
  • Vendor neutrality. The Site’s tools and assistant are intended to be factual and vendor-neutral. Nothing they produce is an endorsement, ranking, or disparagement of any specific product or vendor, and any product references should be independently verified.
  • What you submit. Do not submit confidential, proprietary, personally identifiable, protected health, criminal-justice, or otherwise sensitive or regulated information, and do not submit any information you do not have the right to share. You are responsible for the content you provide.
  • Availability. The tools and assistant are provided as-is and may be changed, rate-limited, or withdrawn at any time without notice.

5. Acceptable use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • upload or submit anything unlawful, infringing, defamatory, malicious (including malware), or that you lack the right to share;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to, disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Site or its infrastructure;
  • scrape, harvest, or systematically extract the Site’s content or data, or use automated means to access the Site except for a search engine’s normal indexing;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source of any part of the Site;
  • use the Site’s content or outputs to train, build, or improve a competing dataset, model, product, or service; or
  • misrepresent your identity or affiliation.

Dave Iannone may restrict or terminate your access at any time for any reason, including suspected violation of these Terms.

6. Your submissions

“Submissions” means anything you send through the Site, for example contact-form messages, files or answers you provide to a tool, and questions you ask the assistant. You retain ownership of your Submissions. You grant Dave Iannone a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and process your Submissions solely to operate the Site, respond to you, and improve the Site’s content and tools. You represent that you have the right to provide your Submissions and that they do not violate any law or third-party right. Aggregate, de-identified information (such as which questions are commonly asked) may be used to improve the Site.

7. Intellectual property

Except for your Submissions and clearly attributed third-party material, the Site and its content, including the writing, guides, tools, designs, logos, and the compilation of all of it, are owned by Dave Iannone and are protected by copyright and other laws. All rights reserved. You may view and share links to the content, and use the free tools, for your own personal or internal professional use. You may not republish, redistribute, sell, or create derivative works from the content, or use it for commercial purposes, without prior written permission. “Dave Iannone” and any Site logos or marks may not be used without permission. Requests for permission can be made through the contact page.

8. Third-party links and services

The Site links to and relies on third-party websites and services (for example, social, scheduling, and email providers, and other sites the Site links to). Dave Iannone does not control and is not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those third parties. Following a link is at your own risk, and the third party’s own terms and privacy policies will apply.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains what the Site collects (such as analytics and anything you choose to submit) and how it is handled.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site, its content, tools, and assistant are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Dave Iannone does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any content or output will be accurate, complete, or reliable. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dave Iannone will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Site, its content, tools, or assistant, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dave Iannone’s total liability for all claims relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Because the Site is provided free of charge, this allocation of risk is a fundamental basis of these Terms. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dave Iannone from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your Submissions, your use of the Site, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

13. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

14. Changes to these Terms

Dave Iannone may update these Terms from time to time. When the Terms change, the “last updated” date above will change. Material changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of the Site after that means you accept the updated Terms.

15. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Dave Iannone’s failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Dave Iannone regarding the Site. You may not assign these Terms; Dave Iannone may.
